Revisiting Pandora (click for presentation)
A retelling of the myth, it is impossible for our schools and districts not to open the amazing new gifts in the box we call 2.0. The trick is in how we open the box. With thought and trust and hope we can unleash student creativity and learning. Joyce and Ken will discuss 2.0 projects and tools that allow us to deliver your Language Arts curriculum in new, engaging ways.

Keynote: Eliminating Copyright Confusion

Rooms 102 and 103

Renee Hobbs

The internet and new technologies are making it possible for students and teachers to access a wide range of images, text, videos, music – and most all of it is copyrighted material. Media literacy education can help educators integrate technology into the curriculum by bringing critical thinking and communication skills into all grade levels and subject areas, but educators need a better understanding of how copyright law affects us. What rights do students and teachers have to use, share and modify copyrighted materials for teaching and learning?
